Well after a nail-biting few days the play has finally been cast. I am so happy, I have been cast in the part of Dot who is the Mother.
The story revolves around one family with 3 generations being represented. All of the parts make major contributions to the story and are even on stage after they have died.
The number of lines for Dot are not huge, however they are going to be difficult to learn especially where there are two different conversations going on at the same time and there are very few cues to link to. There are also multiple occasions where the same or similar lines are spoken making it very easy to skip to another part of the script. Also, because the play spans several years and encompasses major events in the characters lives there is a lot of emotional input. I am going to have to change emotions frequently and very quickly. At the end of it I am going to be exhausted, not through any physical exertions but through the psychological and emotional workout my brain will have to contend with during rehearsals and more so during performances as the adrenaline flows and I give my all.
I just need to perfect my Yorkshire accent now!
